Fucecchio is located on the right bank of the river Arno. The city with its ancient origin gives the nature reserve (Padule) it’s name. It is protected by the waters of the country through its bridge over the Arno, Ponte a Cappiano., Where the pilgrims will cross on the Via Francigena the river, and could make a stop. Because of this resource Fucecchio played an important role in the medieval way.
The Via Francigena is still accessible and has a great charm.You can still partecipate to the Fucecchio walks and pilgrimages with beautiful impressions, with the possibility to admire the typical flora and fauna of the swamp.
